Mina Starsiak Hawk Returns to HGTV in First Appearance Since Contentious End of Good Bones (Exclusiv

Mina Starsiak Hawk makes her return to HGTV this week, five months after the series finale of her long-running series Good Bones.

In the premiere of House Hunters: All Stars, which airs Thursday, the Indiana native helps an artist named Siena find the perfect home in downtown Indianapolis after relocating from Hawaii.

In the exclusive clip above, Starsiak Hawk, who lives in the city with her husband Steve Hawk and their two children — son Jack, 5, and daughter Charlie, 3 — takes Siena on a tour of one of the prospective properties, a craftsman house from 1895.

“Pretty dark facade, sort of a moody exterior, but I don’t hate the colors,” Siena observes.

“Don’t hate, I will take that,” Mina replies.

While Siena admits the home is not what she expected, Mina points out that it has “character.”

“Very character-y,” Siena agrees, noting the rope lights, which Mina calls “definitely an intentional choice.”

Mina said goodbye to Good Bones, in which she'd starred alongside her mom Karen E. Laine and several other family members, after 8 seasons in October 2023.

Following the finale, she opened up about tensions with her family behind the scenes on her podcast Mina AF. She revealed she wasn’t “in a great place” with either her brother Tad or her mom.

In a recent episode, she shared, “I think it’s been really weird or unpleasant for a lot of people when the show ended the way it ended and kind of that curtain was pulled back a little bit, like ‘Oh, her and her mom don’t have a perfect relationship like it looks like on the show. And then you get people going back and saying, ‘You know what? I could actually see that. I could see them being irritated with each other.’”

Mina has also said it was necessary to end Good Bones because “the finances weren’t making sense.”

She explained that it’s a common misconception among fans that everyone seen on Good Bones worked for her company, when — as she's previously noted — her relatives and other cast members haven’t been employed by Two Chicks “for the past handful of years.”

“There was also this thing happening in the background, because I was the only one that owned the company, where no one else gave a s---. They were all just there having fun, which was lovely, and it was just too much to keep going.”

Mina noted that Good Bones viewers have expressed disappointment over the decision to wrap up the show on social media.

"When it ended, it wasn't just letting down the people on the show and the production team that was making the show and had jobs, and my family who was getting paid to be on the show,” she said. “It was letting down this whole world of HGTV women and they all told me that I did and that they were very upset about it.”

“It was a very weird six months of emotional, not good headspace because even though I feel like I'm very balanced about what I let into my psyche and what I don't, it's still really hard to have people say nasty s--- all day, every day, and not kind of let it affect you," she continued.

Her new role is a special appearance as part of a larger ensemble of HGTV stars, each of whom will help a potential homeowner with their house hunt in their own hometown.
